Maextro is the most prestigious of the four brands created as a result of the collaboration between Huawei and JAC, which form the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA). Pre-sales of the Maextro S800 executive sedan started on November 26 during the Huawei Mate brand ceremony. The preliminary price of the car is stated in the range of 1–1.5 million yuan ($140–207 thousand), and a deposit of 20,000 yuan ($2750) is required to order.

The Maextro S800 is positioned as a D+ class executive sedan. The car dimensions are 5480 mm in length, 2000 mm in width and 1536 mm in height, and the wheelbase is 3370 mm. According to the head of Huawei’s smart car division, Richard Yu, “the new product is larger than 99.99% of existing passenger cars.” There is no information about the power plant; according to experts, the car will be completely electric.

Maextro S800 will be built on the second generation of the Turing platform. Despite its enormous size, the S800’s design lacks the “big box” feel of other similar cars. The Maextro S800, as befits an executive sedan, will be available only in two strict color schemes: violet-silver and black. One of the most eye-catching design elements are the wheels, which Chinese media call “flat bread” or “pie rings.”

The lighting technology of the Maextro S800 is inspired by the image of the Milky Way – LED strips separated by the main headlight clusters are surrounded by small additional light sources.

The image of the Milky Way is reflected in many design elements of the car, which, according to the creators, is most noticeable in the design of the rear lights and door handles. The interior with a ceiling in the form of a starry sky continues the space theme.

Little is known about the actual characteristics of the car. According to the presentation slide, all Maextro S800 systems are “super”: Super Cruise, Super Maneuverability, Super Awareness, Super Privacy, Super Communication, Super AI, Super Protection and Super Reliability.

At the presentation, it was noted that the new car will have L3 level autonomous driving capabilities, thanks to a roof-mounted lidar. Marketers attribute triple intelligence to the new product: intelligent driving, intelligent cockpit and intelligent domain management. However, no additional clarifications were given on this matter.
