Fulqrum Publishing and developer Dreamate have released their old-school steampunk RPG New Arc Line, inspired by Dragon Age: Origins and Arkanum, into Early Access. A special trailer was released to mark the release.
New Arc Line puts gamers in the middle of a massive conflict between ancient magic and “inexorably advancing” technology. In this world, dwarves, elves and mysterious monsters coexist with steampunk handheld devices, Tesla guns and airships.
According to the plot, the main character arrives in Newark – a shining city, which will be his last hope to find a cure for the iron plague. An incurable disease has struck the protagonist’s entire family, so he will have to go through a lot to save her.
The starting version of New Arc Line offers a quarter of the story campaign, which will take from 10 to 12 hours to study. Three companion characters with well-developed storylines will be able to join the main character’s team.
In their latest message, the developers promised to regularly review reviews, suggestions and any constructive criticism. Upcoming updates are designed to improve the technical condition of the project.
The first buyers of New Arc Line greeted it with warmth, as evidenced by the high rating on Steam (88% based on 27 reviews). Gamers praise the old-school steampunk RPG for its unique setting, detailed world, and sophisticated combat system. “So far it looks promising,” summed up the reviewer with the nickname Kassar.
The main reason for dissatisfaction was the technical state of the early version (optimization problems and bugs), as well as the lack of translation into various languages (there is only English).
New Arc Line will be in early access for at least a year, but only on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store). During the specified time, the project should receive several major content updates with companions, gameplay mechanics and additional locations. A full release is planned for 2025 in versions for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S.
