Very quiet 1600 W power supply for $569 – Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition with Noctua fan released

Noctua announced the launch of sales of the Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition power supply, which uses its proprietary NF-A12x25 fan, which is famous for its quiet operation and high performance. The power supply itself has elements of a proprietary brown color, typical of Noctua products. The PSU was presented at Computex 2024 this summer.

The Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition is based on the original Seasonic PRIME 1600W power supply model. The latter is distinguished by the use of a 135 mm fan. In the Noctua Edition it is replaced with a more compact 125mm fan from the Austrian manufacturer.

The power supply is designed for high-performance PCs: it has two 12+4-pin 12V-2×6 power connectors for current and future generation flagship video cards, and also complies with PCIe 5.1 and ATX 3.1 power standards. According to Noctua, the cooling system in the Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition operates in completely passive mode if the load on the power supply does not exceed 50% and its temperature is no more than 25 degrees Celsius.

If the power consumption of the PC as a whole does not exceed 800 W, then it is likely that the fan will not be used at all. However, even when operating at maximum speed, the fan noise level will be only 24 dBA, the manufacturer promises.

«Featuring a semi-passive fan control system, the TX-1600 Noctua Edition will operate in fully passive mode at up to 50% PSU load and typical ambient temperatures of ≤25°C. The fan will start slowly only when the load is higher or when this temperature value increases. This makes the TX-1600 Noctua Edition an excellent choice not only for high-end systems, but also for quiet builds that don’t require 1600W of power. In such cases, the power supply will run most of the time with the fan off or at near-silent speed levels. Even at 100 percent load, the TX-1600 Noctua Edition operates virtually silently at ambient temperatures up to 25°C. Its noise level is about 24 dBA, which is less than 34 dBA for the regular version of the power supply. This significant reduction in noise levels is reflected in the increase in Cybenetic’s Lambda noise performance rating from A to A++,” says Noctua.

The Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 Noctua Edition power supply costs $569 (€499). The new product is already available in the USA.
