Microsoft announced the suspension of the release of the Windows 11 24H2 update on PCs with Ubisoft games installed. According to The Verge, this is due to user complaints about crashes in games such as Star Wars Outlaws and some parts of the Assassin’s Creed series after installing the update.
Microsoft’s official statement released last night confirmed the compatibility issue: “Some Ubisoft games may become unresponsive on devices running Windows 11 version 24H2.” The company said it is working with Ubisoft to resolve the issue and strongly discourages manual installation of the 24H2 update at this time.
According to available information, after installing the update, users may encounter serious problems in the operation of a number of Ubisoft games. Some of the most common complaints include freezing during startup, loading, or during gameplay. In some cases, the screen may turn black. The list of affected games includes:
Ubisoft has already released a temporary fix for Star Wars Outlaws, but Microsoft notes that players may still experience performance issues. “We are working with Ubisoft to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” Microsoft said in a blog post.
Users who have the listed games installed on their computers are advised to refrain from updating until the final fix is released. Microsoft will temporarily not offer installation of Windows 11 version 24H2 through the Windows Update release channel for devices running the listed games. “We recommend that you do not attempt to manually update to version 24H2 using the Windows 11 Setup Assistant or via a USB installation drive until this issue is resolved,” the company noted.
