Xiaomi’s efforts to carve out its place in China’s highly competitive electric vehicle market are clearly visible. The company is actively increasing production volumes of the debut model SU7 and is going to start selling its fastest and most powerful version, SU7 Ultra. According to informed sources, Xiaomi’s first electric crossover could be presented as early as February or March 2025.

The Chinese publication Caijing, cited by CnEVPost, reported yesterday, citing sources familiar with Xiaomi’s plans, that the second model of this brand’s electric car could hit the market as early as February or March, before the end of the first quarter of this year. As a matter of fact, the production version of the SU7 Ultra sports car will also debut in March 2025, and this is already known from official statements by the company’s management, so the two events may coincide in time. The first-born of the SU7 brand went on sale on March 28, 2024, so for good measure, the anniversary of its presence on the market could be celebrated with new announcements in this area.
By the end of this year, as is known, Xiaomi will now try to produce 130,000 SU7 electric vehicles, and the 100,000th copy of this model has recently been handed over to its owner. For now, the company is forced to produce all its electric vehicles at a single plant in Beijing, the design capacity of which is designed for the annual production of 150,000 cars. It has been working in two shifts since June, and by the end of November and December it is preparing to assemble 28,000 electric vehicles. By June next year, the second Xiaomi plant for assembling electric vehicles should be ready; it will begin production no earlier than August.
The brand’s second model will be an electric crossover with the symbol MX11, which will combine practicality with elegance of design and high dynamic performance. Some of the units of the new product will be unified with the SU7, which is quite predictable. The Xiaomi crossover should become a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y. The lower price level for this should be located at just above $34,000.
