The average user’s illiteracy in this area leads to what the researchers called “misconceptions”: 44% of respondents indicated that the AI PC is a futuristic technology or a gimmick; 53% felt that such computers were only for creative or technical professionals; 86% expressed concerns about privacy and security of their data when working with AI-enabled PCs; 17% indicated that these technologies are unsafe and unregulated. However, disclosure has a beneficial effect on people: 32% of people who are not familiar with PCs with AI said they would consider buying a computer with such features when it’s time to upgrade; among those who had the opportunity to work with similar machines, this figure rose to 64%.
