On the eve of the very soon premiere, Polish science fiction writer Andrzej Sapkowski shared with Nowa Fantastyka magazine the details of his new book from the Witcher series – the first in the last 11 years.
As it became known, the work is called Wiedźmin: Rozdroże Kruków (translated from Polish as “The Witcher – Crossing of Ravens”) and is a prequel to the main saga.
According to the plot, the witcher Geralt of Rivia is still young (18-20 years old) and takes his first steps in his dangerous profession: armed with two runic swords, he “fights monsters, saves innocent maidens and helps unhappy lovers.”
«Everywhere and always he tries to follow the unwritten code learned from his mentors. As usual, life does not skimp on disappointments – youthful idealism constantly collides with reality,” reads the book’s description.
The Witcher – Crossing of Ravens will be available in Polish bookstores on November 29, and the digital version will be released on December 1. In addition, the first chapter of the future novel has been published in the new issue of Nowa Fantastyka.
It’s not clear when Raven’s Crossing will leave Poland, but it has been reported in the past that the international release of Sapkowski’s new Geralt of Rivia novel is expected in 2025.
Based on The Witcher, the fourth season of the Netflix series, the cartoon The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep (also Netflix), the next serial The Witcher (CD Projekt Red) and a remake of the first game (Fool’s Theory) are also in the works.
