Microsoft has announced a new feature in its Teams collaboration service. Now platform users will be able to speak or listen to other participants in the language of their choice during online meetings. Translator in Teams uses an AI-powered algorithm to imitate users’ voices online.
The feature, which lets you speak and listen to other meeting participants in your chosen language, will be available in preview early next year. At the initial stage, support for nine languages will be implemented (English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish), as well as the option to simulate user speech in another language.
Microsoft continues to integrate AI features into the Teams platform. The mentioned innovation will be available along with the function of transcripts of meetings involving users speaking different languages. The meeting transcript tool will support translation into 31 languages.
Early next year, Microsoft will add an AI feature that will allow Teams to understand and summarize any visual content that appears on the screen from PowerPoint or the web during online meetings, along with regular transcripts and chat summaries. Copilot’s AI assistant will also be able to provide summaries of any files shared in the Teams chat interface.
Owners of Copilot Pus PCs will have access to the resolution enhancement feature in online meetings in Teams. This can be useful when connecting to the chat via an Internet channel with low bandwidth.
