Following on from its latest story expansion, fantasy RPG Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous from developer Owlcat Games is gearing up for its final content update.
Patch 2.5 will be released “very soon” and will be the final content update for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. After this, there are no more plans to add additional plot elements or mechanics to the game.
At the same time, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous will continue to receive updates with bug fixes. The developers also admit the possibility of introducing “some more improvements for the convenience of the player” in the future.
One of the main features of 2.5 will be a large-scale reworking of the mythical path of the golden dragon:
- Visual improvements – several new spell effects, a modified version of the portrait of evil dragons (a full-fledged alternative appearance);
- Mechanics update – new mythic spellbook for 10 enchantments (with a corrupted version), 10 more mythic traits, improvements and balancing of old spells and traits;
- Story content – improving the world’s reaction to the actions of the dragon, the introduction of two dragon religions (Apsu and Dahak) at character creation and a number of situations for them, two “exclusive plot points” for the gold dragon, changing the alignment of the corrupted gold dragon to Chaotic Evil.
The developers emphasize that the goal of all these changes is to make the golden dragon no less powerful than other mythical paths, and the game for it more interesting and original.
According to the authors of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, the upcoming update is a big milestone for the project: “If you’ve been waiting all this time for the game to finally take its final form, then the time has come.”
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous was released in September 2021 on PC (Steam, GOG, EGS), and in the fall of 2022 it reached PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch (“cloud”). The game received six expansions and sold over 1 million copies.
