The social network Bluesky has achieved significant success, having managed to attract many users after the recent US presidential elections. However, the achievements of the main competitor, the Threads platform, turned out to be even more significant. Over the past two weeks, 15 million new users have joined the social network owned by Meta✴ Platforms. The head of Threads and Instagram✴ Adam Mosseri spoke about this.
«Great couple of weeks for Threads. More than 15 million users were registered in November alone, and more than 1 million users per day have been registered for three months now. We know we still have a lot of work to do and our teams are working hard to give the community what it needs,” Mosseri said in a statement.
Data from AppFigures confirms these numbers. According to the service, over the past two weeks there have been 4.8 million downloads of the Threads application for iOS and 8.2 million downloads of the Android application. In total, this is more than 13 million users, excluding those who registered in Threads through a desktop browser on a PC. During the reporting period, the largest increase in Threads users was in the USA, Brazil and India.
Although Threads currently doesn’t have ads like X and Instagram✴, the platform plans to launch a monetization system in the near future. According to the source, the Instagram✴ marketing team is considering the possibility of placing advertisements in Threads, and this opportunity could be implemented as early as January next year.
After the recent US presidential election, social network X lost about 115 thousand users, many of whom switched to alternative platforms such as Threads and Bluesky. This did not have a significant impact on X. According to Likeweb, the social network Threads is used by 4.7 million people daily, Bluesky by just over 1 million people, and X by 36.7 million users, but some of these may be bots.
