Polish publisher and developer 11 bit studios reported results for the first nine months of 2024 and updated sales of its city-building survival strategy game Frostpunk 2.
The reporting period was the best in history for 11 bit studios – revenue compared to the same period in 2023 increased by 211% and reached 106.6 million zlotys ($26 million), and the result for the third quarter was seven times higher than last year.
Meanwhile, the company’s operating income reached 53 million zlotys ($12.9 million), and net income exceeded 47.5 million zlotys ($11.5 million) – an increase of 3,420% compared to last year.
The main driver of the success of 11 bit studios was the release of Frostpunk 2. Released on September 20, by the end of the month the strategy had sold 441 thousand copies, and at the time of publication of the report the figure exceeded 511 thousand units.
Despite mixed reviews from players, Frostpunk 2 contributed significantly to its revenue. Microsoft’s payment for including the project in Game Pass at release amounted to 52.3 million zlotys ($12.7 million) – this is almost half of the company’s total result.
The original Frostpunk also showed strong sales during the reporting period, and the publishing branch of the company (The Invincible, The Thaumaturge, Indika, Creatures of Ava) accounted for 26% of total revenue.
The studio plans to improve and expand Frostpunk 2 (including through paid DLC), and also promises to take into account the experience of launching the game in preparation for the premiere of the philosophical survival game The Alters, postponed to 2025.
