The Elder Scrolls VI is still a ways off from release, but artist Leo Torres continues to show off what the game could look like in Unreal Engine 5 by recreating iconic locations from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in the engine.
In a new video, Torres presented his vision of the city of kings – Windhelm. The capital of the domain of Istmar stands on the northern bank of the White River and is the main headquarters of the Stormcloaks.
Windhelm is considered by some to be the oldest human settlement in Tamriel. It was once the capital of the First Nord Empire – the old palace of the Ysgramor dynasty still stands in the center of the city.
Posted by Torres on Skyrim’s 13th anniversary, the two-minute video shows Windhelm on a more realistic scale in daylight, the setting sun, and illuminated at night by the northern lights.
The audience appreciated Torress’s new work. “Every frame is a painting!” — AdrianDoll is sure. User walkirie01 was also impressed: “This… There are no words… just emotions.”
According to Torres, it took him a month to implement Windhelm on the new engine. Rendering took place in Unreal Engine 5.4 on an RTX 3090. The artist used his own and third-party models, Lumen and Nanite technologies.
Torres has been recreating locations from Skyrim on Unreal Engine 5 for about two years now. Previously, he showed the transformed Dawnstar, Whiterun, Solitude, Winterhold, Blackreach, Markarth, Falkreath, Morthal and Riften.
