Apple began selling spare parts for the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro smartphones through its store, including cameras, displays and batteries. Now users will be able to repair their devices themselves.

According to The Verge, Apple has expanded the range of its do-it-yourself parts store by adding components for the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro. Gadget owners can purchase original spare parts for the most commonly damaged modules, such as cameras, displays and back panels, and thanks to the official guide published in September, it will not be difficult to repair the device without contacting service.

The camera module will cost $169 for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, and $249 for the 16 Pro and Pro Max. Prices for the new displays range from $279 to $379 depending on the model. Batteries for basic iPhones will cost $99, and for iPhone 16 Pro models – $119. For those who don’t have the necessary tools, Apple offers rentals of a specialized repair kit for $49.

It’s worth noting that DIY iPhone repair is no longer as risky as it used to be, thanks to Apple’s gradual move to improve the repairability of its devices. Plus, DIY repairs tend to be cheaper than repairs at a service center, especially when using used parts, which is now officially supported by Apple.

More affordable third-party components, such as batteries and displays, are expected in the future, with Apple set to improve support for them later this year.
