Ryzen 7 9800X3D has been removed from shelves in the US and Europe – speculators are reselling them for $1000

Demand for AMD’s most powerful gaming processor, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, has skyrocketed to impressive heights. The new chip is out of stock at almost all retailers in the US and Europe. Speculators on eBay are asking almost $1,000 for it, with a suggested retail price of $479.

In the US, AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processors are completely sold out at Newegg, Best Buy, B&H Photo, Walmart and Amazon; but in some cities of the country they are still in stock at the MicroCenter network of physical stores. Speculators, of course, decided to take advantage of the small stocks of new-generation chips: on eBay, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is available for up to $999; Most sellers are asking around $750, but that’s 56% above the suggested retail price. Retail chain Newegg has promised that it will soon receive a new batch.

A similar situation is observed in Europe, where AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D also officially went on sale – the new processors were sold out by Arlt, Alternate, Alza, Caseking, Hardwarecamp24, Mindfactory, Notebooksbiliger and ProShop, reports 3DCenter. So far, only the retailer Computer Universe has managed to retain some stocks of chips – they are available from them for €498. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is not available from the UK’s Orbit, Scan and AWD-IT, but is still available from CLL at €519.99. It got to the point that the Mindfactory network has reportedly started canceling pre-orders due to its inability to fulfill them – by now the seller has collected so many that the new batch of processors was sold out before it even arrived.

The crazy demand for the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is easy to explain: independent reviews have confirmed the manufacturer’s claim that this is the fastest gaming processor today. According to Tom’s Hardware, it outperformed its predecessor Ryzen 7 7800X3D by 14.7% and crushed Intel chips, being up to 42% faster in games than the Core i9-14900K and up to 60% more productive than the Core Ultra 9 285K.

At the same time, AMD itself claims that there is no shortage of processors – there is simply extremely high demand for them, and retail chains cannot cope with it. Therefore, patience will help save money.
