Launching on November 7th, the PS5 Pro console should provide a performance boost to existing games with Game Boost, but how much better does Elden Ring perform with it? Digital Foundry experts sorted it out.
Let us remember that at the release of the main game two years ago and the Shadow of the Erdtree add-on in June, Elden Ring disappointed Digital Foundry: 60 frames/s could not be dreamed of even in performance mode.
PS5 Pro, according to Sony, provides up to a 45% increase in rendering speed compared to the base model, but even this did not help the new console guarantee a stable 60 fps in Elden Ring.
As follows from Digital Foundry’s research, in none of the Elden Ring operating modes (performance, quality, ray tracing) on PS5 Pro does it reach the “iron” 60 fps, although in some places it comes close.
Elden Ring testing results on PS5 Pro:
Digital Foundry experts concluded that even taking into account the shortcomings, the PS5 Pro has become the best option for playing Elden Ring on a console: performance mode and VRR provide a completely smooth “picture”.
It’s worth noting that, unlike the 55 Sony confirmed games, Elden Ring does not have official PS5 Pro support. However, Digital Foundry doesn’t expect miracles (see the Dark Souls 3 update for PS4 Pro).
