The first users of the Mail.ru Cloud service will lose the 100 GB storage that was given to them “forever”

The Mail.ru Group company, owned by the VK holding, notified customers of the cancellation of free eternal 100 GB of cloud storage for the first users of the Mail.ru Cloud service 11 years after the launch of the project. The change will come into effect in mid-November, but users will be given until February next year to migrate their data.

The tariff plan with free 100 GB of cloud storage, which was provided to beta testers of the project in 2013, will cease to be valid on November 11, 2024. The company sent out a corresponding notification to customers a few days ago. At the same time, access to user data that does not fit into the new limit will be maintained until February 11, 2025, but it will no longer be possible to view it. If during this time users do not transfer files to another location, then all information will be deleted without the possibility of recovery. You can save your data by downloading it to your local device or by purchasing a paid Mail Space subscription.

The company explained the decision to close the tariff with free 100 GB of storage by increasing functionality and the desire to “focus on the development of services for productivity.” Let us remind you that the Mail.ru Cloud service began operating in August 2013. At the start of the project, the service offered the first users to receive up to 100 GB of cloud storage forever.
