Google introduced Learn About, an interactive learning tool powered by artificial intelligence

Google quietly introduced a new educational service based on artificial intelligence called Learn About, which was announced at the Google I/O conference held in May. The service is designed to change the approach to learning something, turning this process into an exciting dialogue instead of standard reading text and viewing accompanying images.

The Learn About tool is aimed at people who regularly use search engines to learn something new. However, in this case, traditional teaching methods, in which information is presented statically in the process of reading text and viewing images, are being replaced by a method that offers personalized interactive learning.

In a sense, the new service can be called a kind of virtual tutor, to whom you can ask questions or provide your own materials. It is possible to study specially selected topics of a wide range, ranging from everyday issues to complex academic subjects. Algorithms based on neural networks generate content that will help you understand the topic, connect basic concepts, and deepen your understanding of the issue. Learn About combines traditional learning content such as videos, articles and images with artificial intelligence capabilities and is positioned by Google as a new kind of digital learning assistant.

Learn About has a lot of potential, but Google makes it clear that it’s still an experiment at this stage because the service may provide inaccurate or misleading information. Users are encouraged to check facts and leave feedback based on their interaction with the service. It is noted that at the moment Learn About does not save data on user interactions; the chat history will disappear as soon as the web page is closed.
