Studio RocketWerkz (Icarus, Stationeers), led by DayZ creator Dean Hall, has taken on the “killer Kerbal Space Program” (KSP) – a simulator of the Kitten Space Agency space program.
According to Hall, Kitten Space Agency (KSA) was born from a project for KSP 2 rejected by the publisher Private Division (owned by Take-Two) – RocketWerkz claimed to be the developer of the sequel and even got into the top 3 candidates.
«I put a lot of effort into a good design document and decided to focus on the design/technical aspects of the project – this turned out to be a major problem for the two people on the call who said we were the only ones without illustrations. Obviously, our studio wasn’t chosen,” Hall recalls.

Several of the original developers of KSP and KSP 2, as well as a number of modders, were involved in the creation process of Kitten Space Agency. In addition, Hall himself was actively involved in modding the first KSP in the past.
In a thread on the Reddit forum, Hall showed early developments on Kitten Space Agency (see video above). The game is being created using the BRUTAL Framework, which should allow it to achieve a “grand” scale.
KSA plans to add extraterrestrial base construction, life support systems, multiplayer and seamless movement between screens during multi-ship space missions.
KSA does not have a release date, but the first version of the game will be free. Hall is not afraid of persecution from Take-Two: “Let them try! It will be great advertising for us. Besides, I’m still offended and think they’re a terrible company.”
