In addition to the flagship smartphones Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro, Xiaomi presented an updated version of its HyperOS 2 operating system based on Android. The new OS significantly expands the functionality and performance of devices. The release includes three major technology innovations – HyperCore, HyperConnect and HyperAI, which the company says will provide a new, advanced experience in core functions and interaction with artificial intelligence.
One of the notable improvements in HyperOS 2 was a redesigned task scheduler, improved memory and I/O resource management, and updated rendering. Additionally, improvements have been made in the areas of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 5G connectivity, which Xiaomi claims should provide “guaranteed connectivity in all scenarios.”
New features include an AI-powered lock screen, dynamic AI wallpapers, a redesigned home page with improved widgets and new animations, and 3D displays in the Weather app. All these functions, according to the developers, should make the interface more visually attractive and functional.
HyperOS 2 also offers more advanced interoperability between devices. Users will be able to control their phone from a tablet, use a shared clipboard, and even record video on one device and view it on another.
Particular attention is paid to functions related to artificial intelligence. Among them are AI Magic Painting, which allows you to turn sketches into images, AI Voice Recognition for speech recognition with subsequent transcription into text and automatic creation of summaries. Also featured are AI Writing for text generation and editing, AI Translation with simultaneous translation support for meetings and calls, and AI Anti-Fraud to help identify fraudulent calls and fake videos.
For now, the OS is only available for devices sold in China. The first updates will begin rolling out in November for the Xiaomi 14 series, Mix Fold 4, Mix Flip, Redmi K70 and Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4 tablet. In December, devices from the Xiaomi 13, Mix Fold 3, Civi 4 Pro series, as well as the Redmi K60, Redmi Turbo 3 and Redmi Note 14 series will receive the update. HyperOS 2 is not available on the international market, but the company is expected to announce its global launch soon .
