The web version of Gmail now has an AI assistant for writing letters

Google is expanding its “Help Me Write” feature to the web version of its Gmail email service. This tool will allow users to generate letters using an AI assistant based on the Gemini neural network. Just like on mobile devices, you’ll be prompted to use the feature mentioned when you open a blank Gmail draft.

At this stage, the Help Me Write feature is available to users with a Google One AI Premium subscription, as well as those who have access to Gemini in Workspace. In addition to generating a draft message, this tool can give advice on how best to write a particular message, how to shorten the text of the message, etc.

Google has also added a shortcut to the “polish” feature, which is part of the “Help Me Write” toolkit. It will appear in draft messages containing more than 12 words. In the web version of Gmail, to use this feature, you can press the corresponding shortcut or the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+H. In the mobile version of the service, this option will replace the existing “Improve my draft” shortcut. Instead of swiping your finger across the screen to see revision options, the app will make adjustments automatically. After using the new feature, the user will be able to refine the message using other AI tools.

Starting today, the mentioned innovations will be gradually introduced. Obviously, it will take some time before they become available to all Gmail users.
