On the eve of the very soon release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, executive producer of BioWare studio Mike Gamble shared crumbs of new information about the next Mass Effect.
According to Gamble, amid the release of the first reviews of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, he is receiving more and more questions about the new Mass Effect, which was confirmed back in 2020 and has not yet received a single full trailer.
«Both [franchises] were born in the studio, but Mass Effect is Mass Effect. The way you bring a sci-fi RPG to life is different than with other genres or IPs,” Gamble shared.
The visual style of Dragon Age: The Veilguard is inspired by Northern Renaissance paintings and the films of Akira Kurosawa. Gamble, in turn, assured that the new Mass Effect will be a game with photorealistic graphics.
Gamble added that the next Mass Effect will retain the adult tone of the original trilogy, but the game will also offer scenarios with “serious characters in humorous situations.”
Last March, Electronic Arts (the owner of BioWare) announced that the team of the new Mass Effect, with the exception of Gamble and several other developers involved in pre-production of the project, was helping with the creation of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
According to rumors, the new Mass Effect will abandon the open world of Mass Effect: Andromeda and return to the classic linear format. It is assumed that the game is still several years away from release – the release is expected no earlier than 2026.
