French publisher and developer Ubisoft, at the request of journalists from the Kotaku portal, commented on rumors about a remake of the platformer Rayman and the state of development of the long-suffering Beyond Good and Evil 2.
Let us recall that in a recent article, insider Tom Henderson reported that Ubisoft Milan studio, together with a dozen developers of the metroidvania Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown from Ubisoft Montpellier, took on the remake of Rayman.
«We are pleased to confirm that Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan have recently entered into the research phase for the Rayman brand. The project is still in its early stages, so we will share details later,” the publisher said.
Ubisoft also confirmed that Rayman and Beyond Good and Evil creator Michel Ancel, who left the company in 2020, is advising the team on established elements of the universe.
As for Beyond Good and Evil 2, the development of the game, confirmed in 2008, according to Henderson, continues to “slip” – the project is still several years away from release.
Ubisoft has confirmed (for the 30th time, according to PC Gamer) that production on Beyond Good and Evil 2 is continuing, with former King and DICE design director Fawzi Mesmar as the project’s new creative director.
According to Kotaku, Beyond Good and Evil 2 recently successfully passed some important internal milestone – Ubisoft management is happy, and employees are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel (in a good way).
