Last week’s patch 4.0 for the shooter Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 was not the unqualified success that Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive had hoped for. The developers made concessions to the fans.
Let us remind you that gamers criticized (even going so far as to lower the rating of Space Marine 2 on Steam) the balance changes brought by version 4.0: the patch artificially increased the difficulty and limited play styles.
According to Space Marine 2 head of development Dmitry Grigorenko, the adjustments aimed at the “ruthless” difficulty in Operations “made the game more intense and stressful at lower levels.”
«This was never our goal. As I have emphasized more than once in interviews, Space Marine 2 was created to make the player feel powerful. And for many, patch 4.0 had a negative impact on this aspect,” added Grigorenko.
Announced today, October 24, patch 4.1 is intended to roll back some innovations from 4.0. In particular:
To prevent situations with mass criticism of changes in the future, the creators are going to start testing upcoming balance adjustments on test servers. They will be ready for operation in early 2025.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 was released on September 9 on PC (Steam, EGS), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. Last week, the game received not only a scandalous patch, but also a free set with 4K textures weighing 85 GB.
