Midjourney launched a powerful AI image editor and improved moderation

Midjourney, one of the leading companies developing neural networks for generating images from text descriptions, announced testing of new features, including an external image editor, texture editing mode and a moderation system based on the latest generation of artificial intelligence.

The new AI editor allows you to upload photos from your computer and make changes to them – expand, crop, redraw or add objects to the scene. Control occurs using text prompts and selecting areas in the image. Personalization of AI models, reference characters and automatic suggestions based on specified images are also supported.

No less interesting was the texture changing mode, which analyzes the shape of the scene and changes the lighting, materials and texture of the image. This allows you to radically transform the appearance of the original picture, creating new visual effects without changing the main composition.

Midjourney also introduced a more nuanced and intelligent V2 moderation system powered by AI. This “moderator” analyzes not only text queries, but also the images themselves, drawing masks and the results obtained. “We believe this is the most intelligent AI moderator available today. — the company’s developers proudly declare. “We hope that some aspects of it will be implemented into standard generation pipelines in the future to reduce false positives and give users more freedom.”

Currently, the new features are available to users who have generated more than 10,000 images, have an annual subscription, or have a monthly subscription for the last 12 months. Note that the developers acknowledge the presence of some problems, such as incorrect work with small areas of the image, and ask users to be understanding of these temporary difficulties while enjoying testing new features.
