AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D will be 8% faster than Ryzen 7 7800X3D in games, if the leaks are true

AMD will release the first Ryzen 9000X3D series processor with optional 3D V-Cache on November 7th. There are still two weeks left before the launch of the new chip, but given the high interest of the community, the VideoCardz portal tried to find out as much new information as possible about the new product from its sources among computer equipment manufacturers.

AMD itself has not said which model of the Ryzen 9000X3D series will be released on November 7th. However, all the latest leaks indicate that this chip will be an eight-core and 16-thread Ryzen 7 9800X3D. According to fresh data, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D will offer an 8 percent increase in gaming performance compared to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which is still considered by many to be the best gaming processor on the market. According to VideoCardz sources, AMD also talks about a 15 percent increase in multi-threaded performance for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D compared to its predecessor.

However, AMD’s claims based on internal tests are one thing. As independent reviews, including ours, have shown, the performance of regular Ryzen 9000 models turned out to be lower than expected. Therefore, information about the performance of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D should also be taken with a certain degree of skepticism.

The description for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D also indicates the use of “the new generation of 3D V-Cache memory cache.” It differs from the previous generation 3D V-Cache by improved thermal conductivity characteristics, which allowed AMD to increase the maximum clock frequency of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D to 5.2 GHz.

AMD also confirms that the Ryzen 7 9800X3D will be able to run on all Socket AM5 motherboards, meaning not only the latest X870/X870E chipset motherboards, but also previous generation X670(E)/B650(E) and even A620 after BIOS update. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D also supports RAM overclocking up to 8000 MHz. However, earlier leaks indicated that the chip is capable of working with faster memory.

Nothing is known yet about the cost of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
