Tim Cook gave unexpected definitions of “success” for Apple Intelligence and Vision Pro

Against the backdrop of estimates from the pages of Bloomberg that Apple is two years behind its competitors in the field of AI, it was interesting to hear comments from CEO Tim Cook on this matter. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, he characterized the success of both the Vision Pro augmented reality headset and the Apple Intelligence set of artificial intelligence functions in a very unique way.

Since the Apple Vision Pro headset cannot boast of either high sales volumes or a high degree of satisfaction, Tim Cook in his interview described its success differently: “Over time, everything gets better, and it will also go through its own path of gradual improvement. I think that now we can recognize the fact that it is creating its own ecosystem as a success.” The head of Apple did not answer the question about Vision Pro sales volumes, instead saying that the company always strives to sell as many of its products as possible. In this regard, the Vision Pro headset is no exception.

During the interview, Tim Cook also repeatedly mentioned the phrase “not the first, but the best.” He also used this approach to describe Apple’s advances in artificial intelligence. “We were not the first in the field of artificial intelligence, but we got into it in a way that is most convenient for the consumer.” Apparently, the head of the company evaluates Apple’s progress in the field of artificial intelligence in terms of the usefulness of innovations for the quality of life of its customers. Essentially, Apple management understands that Vision Pro and Apple Intelligence have not yet reached their potential, but hopes that this will happen in the future.
