According to analytics company TrendForce, NVIDIA has decided to rename the Blackwell Ultra family of products as the B300 series. Due to this, the B200 Ultra accelerator became the B300, and the GB200 Ultra is now called the GB300. In addition, the B200A Ultra and GB200A Ultra are named B300A and GB300A respectively. The B300 series of accelerators is expected to be released in the first and second quarters of 2025, and deliveries of the (G)B200 will begin no later than the first quarter of 2025.
TrendForce noted that NVIDIA is improving segmentation of Blackwell chips to better meet cost and performance demands from cloud service providers (CSPs) and server OEMs and mitigate supply chain requirements.
Thus, the B300A model is aimed at OEM customers, its mass production is planned to begin in the second quarter of 2025 after the peak of H200 deliveries. Initially, NVIDIA wanted to offer this segment a simplified version of the B200A, but, apparently, the demand for it was weaker than expected. However, upgrading from GB200A to GB300A for rack solutions may result in higher upfront costs for enterprise customers, which may also impact demand.
The company is now investing heavily in improving NVL rack solutions, helping server system vendors with performance optimizations and liquid cooling for NVL72 systems, and AWS and Meta✴ are strongly encouraging the migration from NVL36 to NVL72. TrendForce also expects that the supply of top-end NVIDIA accelerators will expand, and their total share in shipments is expected to reach about 50% in 2024, that is, an increase of 20 percentage points. year to year. The release of Blackwell accelerators is expected to increase this figure to 65% in 2025.
Analysts also noted NVIDIA’s role in driving demand for CoWoS packaging technology. Thanks to Blackwell, demand for this type of packaging will increase by more than 10 percentage points. on an annual basis. NVIDIA will likely focus on supplying the B300 and GB300 chips to large North American hyperscalers, both of which use CoWoS-L technology. The company is actively increasing its purchases of HBM – according to forecasts, in 2025 NVIDIA will account for more than 70% of the global HBM market (an increase of 10 percentage points year on year).
TrendForce also notes that all B300 series chips will be equipped with HBM3e 12Hi memory, the production of which will begin no later than the first quarter of 2025. But since these will be the first mass-produced products with this type of memory, suppliers are expected to need at least two quarters to refine processes and stabilize production volumes.
