Honor Magic7 smartphones will have a built-in AI agent and offer AI rendering using NPU

Honor, which previously announced its upcoming Magic7 series flagship smartphones scheduled for October 30, showcased some of the new products’ features at the Snapdragon Summit 2024, including the industry’s first on-device AI agent for an open ecosystem and the first real-time graphics rendering on an NPU for mobile games. It was also announced that the Magic7 series smartphones will be based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile platform.

The AI agent will be able to order takeout food on behalf of the user using simple text or voice requests, the company said. Based on the user’s tastes and habits, he will place an order indicating the preferred type of coffee with a certain type of alternative milk.

Using simple commands, the AI agent will be able to find and cancel unnecessary subscriptions in applications, help in planning trips, booking tickets, creating calendar plans, managing notifications, transferring files between applications, etc. The AI agent will be released along with the MagicOS 9.0 platform, which will be announced today.

The Magic7 series smartphones will feature industry-first real-time NPU-based generative AI graphics rendering for mobile games. Honor’s solution reportedly allows for lower GPU load than other smartphones, reducing device heat while delivering higher graphics quality and improved gaming experience.

The company also spoke at the summit about working with Qualcomm to create an AI-first ecosystem. In particular, MagicRing technology makes it easier to work with AI across multiple devices. For example, when using Windows on the Snapdragon platform, the Cocreator app allows users to create real works of art from simple drawings. Using MagicRing and Cocreator, you can create images on your Honor MagicPad 2 using AI and Magic-Pencil. Honor MagicBook Art 14 laptop users will also be able to use the AI eraser available on the Honor Magic V3.
