The Canva platform received an AI image generator based on text descriptions

The developers at Canva continue to develop their web design platform, adding new AI-powered features and improving existing ones. This time they announced improved tools for creating text and video effects, and also introduced a more powerful image-from-text generator called Dream Lab. The AI image generator is the result of Canvas’ acquisition of startup Leonardo.ai earlier this year.

At the heart of Dream Lab is the Leonardo Phoenix AI model, which allows users to use small text prompts to create images in a variety of styles, including illustrations and 3D renderings. Canvas already had an AI generator based on the Stable Diffusion neural network and several third-party applications, but with the advent of Dream Lan, users of the Canvas platform will receive new opportunities. For example, the presented generator is better suited for creating photographic quality images and pictures with a large number of objects.

We’ve also updated Magic’s suite of AI tools, including one-click autocomplete commands for the Magic Write text generation feature. Boards now support AI text summarization, as well as online reaction stickers for collaborative projects. Added video editing tools that automatically generate subtitles and add animated effects. For better visualization, users will be able to add interactive charts and graphs to their presentations. Canva’s library of assets has been expanded with new free music and cinematic videos licensed from the Artlist platform.
