Huawei introduced the Nova 13 and Nova 13 Pro smartphones in China. The new products are equipped with large OLED screens, high-quality cameras and capacious batteries with support for 100 W fast charging. The manufacturer did not disclose which processors are used at the heart of the devices – apparently, these are some proprietary Kirin chips.
The base Nova 13 features a 6.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2412 x 1084 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 300Hz sensor frequency, and a 1440Hz PWM brightness control frequency. The smartphone offers 256, 512 GB or 1 TB of permanent memory. The amount of RAM is not reported.
The main camera block of the device consists of a 50-megapixel sensor with f/1.9 optics and an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 optics for wide-angle shooting. The main camera claims to have laser autofocus, HDR support and 4K shooting. On the front side of the smartphone there is a 60-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.4 optics, capable of shooting video in 4K at 30 frames per second.
The smartphone received a 5000 mAh battery with support for fast wired charging with a power of 100 W. The dimensions of Huawei Nova 13 are 161.4 × 75.3 × 6.98 mm and the weight is 195 grams.
The Nova 13 Pro model has a 6.76-inch LTPO OLED screen with a resolution of 2776 × 1224 pixels, an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, a sensor frequency of 300 Hz and a PWM brightness control frequency of 2160 Hz. The permanent memory configurations of this smartphone model are the same as the regular Nova 13. The amount of RAM is not reported.
The main camera block of the Nova 13 Pro consists of a 50-megapixel sensor with variable aperture optics (f/1.4–f/4.0) and optical stabilization, a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with support for triple zoom (f/2.4) and also equipped with optical stabilization, as well as 8-megapixel sensor for wide-angle shooting (f/2.2) with autofocus support. On the front side of the Nova 13 Pro there is a 60-megapixel camera and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor. The main and front cameras can shoot in 4K.
The Nova 13 Pro measures 163.4 x 74.9 x 7.82 and weighs 209 grams. The device is protected against water and dust IP65. The rest of the specifications are the same as the regular Nova 13 model.
Both devices run the HarmonyOS 4.2 operating system. The manufacturer also indicates support for various AI functions for new products. The Pro model claims support for satellite communications, although only in mainland China. Smartphones are already available for pre-order in the Middle Kingdom. The Nova 13 starts at 2,699 yuan ($378), while the Nova 13 Pro starts at 3,699 yuan ($519). At the moment, it is unknown whether the devices will go on sale on the international market – their predecessors debuted in other countries after a while.
