IPhone 16 users complain about the low battery life of new Apple smartphones

Apple began selling the iPhone 16 late last month. Now, more and more complaints are appearing on the Internet from owners of the company’s new smartphones, who report that the devices are discharged too quickly. This is evidenced by numerous messages on the Reddit platform, in Apple support communities and social networks. While many of the complaints come specifically from iPhone 16 users, it appears that older iPhones running iOS 18 may also experience similar battery issues.

«My new iPhone 16 Pro Max has terrible battery life. I upgraded from the 15 Pro Max because Apple announced better battery life for the 16 and I was excited to see how much better battery life would be. Answer? I’m now getting 50% to 60% time between charges compared to what I was getting with my year old 15 Pro Max. Very disappointing,” says one of the owners of the new iPhone.

Another iPhone 16 Pro user said that his smartphone’s battery charge drops from 100% to 60% by the middle of the day, even if the device is not actively used. On the Internet you can find a large number of recently appeared messages, the authors of which are unhappy with the battery life of their iPhone 16.

Note that on Reddit there are complaints about problems with the autonomy of the iPhone 16, as well as older versions of the iPhone running iOS 18. Although complaints about the autonomy of devices after the release of a new version of the software platform appear regularly, this time the problem seems to affect quite a lot a large number of people.

Battery draining issues can be difficult to diagnose because the experience with iPhone can vary greatly from person to person. Users who noticed the problem with autonomy tried disabling ProMotion, the Always On Display option, background app updates, deleting widgets, etc. This helped some people, but judging by the reports, not in all cases. Some iPhone 16 owners write that the situation has improved after installing iOS 18.0.1 and the iOS 18.1 beta, but again, this did not help everyone. It’s unclear at this point what exactly is causing the excessive battery drain, but it’s clear that Apple will have to address the issue with a software update.
