Lenovo has announced the ThinkSystem SC777 V4 Neptune server, designed specifically for HPC workloads and AI tasks. The new product is 100% direct liquid cooled, which is said to provide maximum performance and energy efficiency without compromising serviceability.

Compared to a similar air-cooled system, the ThinkSystem SC777 V4 Neptune delivers up to 10% overall performance improvement with continuous turbo operation; reduction of data center energy consumption by up to 40%; reduction in noise level from fans up to 100%.

The base ThinkSystem SC777 V4 Neptune system, housed in a 21″ case with the possibility of vertical mounting, carries on board two NVIDIA GB200 accelerators, which gives a total of four B200 chips and two Grace processors. Up to six NVIDIA NDR adapters or three XDR LP InfiniBand adapters can be installed.

The server architecture allows for up to ten E3.S NVMe drives per tray. There is talk about support for RAID arrays at the OS level. The equipment includes two 25GbE SFP28 LOM network ports. The front panel includes a USB Type-C/DisplayPort interface, a diagnostic port, two USB 3.0 connectors, a D-Sub interface, an RJ-45 socket, etc.

Eight ThinkSystem SC777 V4 Neptune trays can be placed in a ThinkSystem N1380 Neptune 13U chassis, and three such trays can be installed in a 19″ server rack. The named chassis allows the use of up to four ThinkSystem Titanium Power Conversion Stations (PCS) nodes with a power of 15 kW each.
