According to TechCrunch, the transition of the head of the Google search engine to another position is associated with career growth. “Prabhakar has decided that it is time to take a big step in his career,” Pichai said in an official statement. According to him, after 12 years at Google, Raghavan will return to his main activity in the field of computer science. He will be tasked with guiding and improving the company’s technical development.

During his time at Google, Raghavan led the launch of important innovations. Under his leadership, Gmail introduced the first AI features such as Smart Reply and Smart Compose. He also oversaw the implementation of AI Overviews, Circle to Search, Google Maps and Shopping, including Immersive View and virtual product try-on based on artificial intelligence.

Fox, who will take over from Raghavan, has been instrumental in shaping Google’s AI product roadmap. Among his achievements is the launch of Google Fi and RCS messaging technology solutions. Pichai noted that Fox’s collaboration with Raghavan and his team has been a significant factor in the company’s success in the field of AI.

In addition to the change in management, structural changes within the company are also reported. In particular, the team working on the Gemini application, led by Sissie Hsiao, will become part of Google DeepMind, which, according to Pichai, will speed up the development and implementation of new AI models. In addition, Google Assistant developers will become part of Google’s platforms and devices team to “get closer to the products they create.”
