Analogue has shared details about its new Analogue 3D gaming console, which is designed to run Nintendo 64 games, including original cartridges, in 4K. The manufacturer announced that Analogue 3D will go on sale in the first quarter of 2025 and will cost $250 – it was previously planned to release it in 2024. At the same time, the company published several pictures of its console in black and white color options.
Analogue 3D, announced last year, is a modern version of the Nintendo 64. The company has previously released similar products to launch games for the NES, SNES, Sega Genesis and Game Boy. The announced new product is capable of not only playing games in 4K, but also supports several modes that simulate the display of a CRT monitor or an old TV. According to the company, the device uses a “specially developed 4K upscaler”, which makes it possible to output video in high quality.
It is noted that Analogue 3D is 100% compatible with the Nintendo 64 cartridge library and does not depend on the region in which the user is located. The FPGA technology used allows the device to function as an original console rather than a game emulator.
Analogue 3D controllers can be connected via Bluetooth, but the design also includes four original ports for wired controller connections. In addition to this, there are two USB ports and an SD card slot. 3D OS is used as a software platform.
There’s no controller included, but 8bitdo has created an updated version of the Nintendo 64 controller without the third pin that can be purchased separately for $39.99. It features a Hall effect stick and is compatible with Switch consoles, as well as Android and PC devices. You can also use any original Nintendo 64 controllers with the console.
