The fantasy role-playing game Metaphor: ReFantazio from the publisher Atlus and developers from Studio Zero had barely even been released when it had already pleased its creators with the achieved level of popularity.

As it became known from the official Japanese press release, the total shipments and digital sales of Metaphor: ReFantazio on the day of its release, October 11, have already exceeded 1 million copies worldwide.

The result achieved makes Metaphor: ReFantazio the fastest-selling game in Atlus history. The previous record holder was Persona 3 Reload (a remake of Persona 3) – it reached a million copies sold in the first week of release.

Users of the ResetEra forum also noticed that on the release day, Metaphor: ReFantazio set a personal record for Atlus games for peak online play on the Steam digital distribution service.

According to official Steam statistics, Metaphor: ReFantazio attracted 61,969 concurrent players at launch. Until recently, Atlus’s best result on the site was 45 thousand people for Persona 3 Reload.

Metaphor: ReFantazio was released on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X and S. On the eve of the release, the project received high marks from journalists (91-93% on Metacritic) and a hefty demo version.

The game was created with the participation of the leading developers of Persona – director Katsura Hashino, artist Shigenori Soejima and composer Shoji Meguro.
