The VK Music platform has received a major update. The most noticeable change was the emergence of a unified design of the application and the music section of the VKontakte social network. At the same time, the developers updated key sections and the service’s recommendation system.
Now the main pages of “VK Music” and the music section of “VKontakte” are made in a single visual style, which provides intuitive navigation. This approach will allow users to quickly find tracks, features and playlists that interest them. The main screen contains the two most popular sections. We are talking about the sections “VK Mix” with recommendations and “My Tracks” with user records. To switch between sections you only need one swipe. New settings have appeared in the “VK Mix” section, and the player has also been updated.
The developers have improved the service’s recommendation system; it has become more accurate and faster. The recommendation system algorithms adapt to the user’s tastes after listening to several songs and reacting to them. Thanks to this improvement, users are 40% more likely to add tracks from VK Mix to their playlists. In addition to this, users can now customize the flow of recommendations based on their mood – the options available are “active”, “sad”, “calm”, “happy” and “love”. It is also possible to listen to recommendations based on their recognition and the language of the performer.
The updated design complements the visual effect of the gyroscope on the main screen, which interacts with the rotation of the device. The interface follows the user’s movements, giving new sensations from interacting with the service. Previously, VK Music introduced the feature of snippets—key fragments of a 35-second track. It is assumed that listening to such fragments will allow one to understand whether the user likes the track or not.
«VK Music continues to expand its subscription services. Users have various options available, including a subscription for two, as well as a student tariff for university and college students. This month, the service will launch a subscription option that can be used by up to four people.
