Google makes available AI search for image content in Google Photos

Last month, Google Photos began testing an AI-powered feature called Ask Photos, which lets you interact with a library of stored photos through natural language queries. Now this innovation is gradually becoming available to users from the USA.

You can access the Ask Photos feature by selecting the appropriate tab in the bottom bar of Google Photos, which will appear after you receive the update and replace the Search tab. Users will still be able to use classic search, but this will now only be possible after trying to find the files of interest using Ask Photos.

When you first launch Ask Photo, the service will prompt you to familiarize yourself with how the new feature works, what permissions it requires, and also specify additional parameters to improve the quality of the search. User feedback indicates that Ask Photos currently does a better job of finding people and places in photos, but it doesn’t work very well when the query includes an event or thing.

Google began accepting applications to test the Ask Photos feature in early September. Since then, messages have appeared on the Internet from users to whom this tool became available as part of the testing program. This week, Google began rolling out its Ask Photos tool, which is available on Android and iOS devices.
