ASRock is preparing to launch Intel Arrow Lake-S processors on at least 12 motherboard models based on the flagship Intel Z890 chipset. The manufacturer showed almost the entire line of new products at the Computex 2024 exhibition in the summer of this year. Now there is an opportunity to look at the new boards in high-quality images.
ASRock will release Z890 boards as part of its Taichi, Phantom Gaming Nova, Riptide, Lightning, LiveMixer, Steel Legend, and Pro series.
As part of the Taichi series, the company will offer three board models: Taichi, Taichi Lite and Taichi OCF (OC Formula). These will be the company’s most expensive solutions. The Aqua model with pre-installed LSS water blocks is not included in the starting lineup.
The Taichi OCF (OC Formula) model is designed for overclockers. That is why it is equipped with only two DIMM slots for DDR5 RAM. In addition, it has a whole set of different buttons and toggle switches for more convenient control when overclocking components.
It is also worth noting that the Taichi OCF model is equipped with an enhanced 27-phase VRM power subsystem. According to rumors, the future Taichi Aqua model will receive an even more powerful 33-phase VRM power subsystem.
The manufacturer has previously shown a model of the Taichi OCF CAMM2 board, equipped instead of the usual DIMM connectors with slots for installing CAMM2 format memory modules. However, this model was not included in the starting set of solutions for Arrow Lake-S. And it is still unclear whether the company intends to launch this board into series at all, or whether it was an experiment.
In general, almost all ASRock Z890 motherboards in the launch lineup follow the same color scheme of black, silver and white. The Phantom Gaming series of boards is an exception. Purple has been added to their I/O panel shrouds and heatsinks. The manufacturer also emphasizes that the new boards support Wi-Fi 7 and Thunderbolt 4. However, some models will also be offered in versions without Wi-Fi support.
The PG Z890I Nova model is the first known board based on the Z890 chipset, made in the Mini-ITX format. The company is also planning to release a compact model, the Z890M Riptide. However, it probably won’t be available at the start of sales of Arrow Lake-S processors.
The first images of the new Z890 LiveMixer board have also appeared. In the new product, the manufacturer decided to move away from the graffiti theme that was used on the previous generation boards.
As VideoCardz writes, ASRock will officially present its boards based on the Z890 chipset on the day of the formal announcement of Arrow Lake-S processors, that is, October 10.
By now, quite a lot is known about Intel Arrow Lake-S processors from unofficial sources. They use the same Lion Cove P and Skymont E cores as the Lunar Lake chips, but in configurations that focus on high performance rather than maximum efficiency like mobile processors.
Arrow Lake-S chips will have a more modest graphics subsystem, but are expected to have a powerful NPU (artificial intelligence accelerator).
According to the latest data, Arrow Lake-S is expected to go on sale from October 24th. Official details about the new products will be available in a few days.
