Modder MontyBellroy has found a simple but effective way to refresh the experience of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for those who have studied the game inside and out.

Mirror Mode reflects the entire game world horizontally, changing the usual arrangement of buildings, objects, NPCs and all elements (even the guards now hold a sword in their left hand and a shield in their right). Technically, the mod does not change the game, but only flips the image using the ReShade shader, leaving the interface untouched (the ReshadeshadeEffectsToggler addon from 4lex4ander is responsible for this), and also rebuilds the controls.

However, there are some shortcomings: MontyBellroy did not redesign the map, so the icons need to be clicked on the opposite side, and did not swap the sound channels, so it seems as if the enemies are in a different place (the author suggested solving the problem using third-party software or simply turning the headphones over) . According to the creator, the mod “although a little clunky, is 100% playable.”

You can download the mod on Nexus Mods. ReShade, SkyUI and Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) are required for it to work.

According to gamers, Mirror Mode gives an unusual and “wrong” feeling from the game.

«Of all the damned things associated with Skyrim, this is the most damned,” imrichnagy5962 wrote in the comments to the video.

«My brain recognizes familiar places, but they are not where they should be, and it’s a lot of fun,” xSlySniipzx admitted.

«Finally, you can again experience the sensations like during the first playthroughs of Skyrim,” noted OlexPseudo.

«This mod causes psychic damage,” rennegaddefoxxe sneers.

«Absolutely damned,” summarizes nobodyshero586.

«Now we need a mod that turns the game vertically, suggests bobbodaskank. – Southern Hemisphere Edition.

«I’ve played so much Skyrim that I can fly through most of the game on autopilot,” PC Gamer quotes one commentator as saying. “And now I’m lost just walking around Whiterun.”

The stone arch of Solitude “turned” in the other direction.
