Fujitsu and Supermicro have announced a strategic collaboration to develop next-generation servers for a broad range of workloads, from AI and HPC to cloud and edge. In addition, the partners will develop life support systems for data centers. We are talking, in particular, about creating servers on Fujitsu MONAKA Arm processors.

MONAKA will be manufactured using TSMC 2nm technology. They will receive up to 144 cores, as well as 12 channels of DDR5 RAM, PCIe 6.0 interfaces with CXL 3.0. We are talking about using the Armv9-A architecture with support for SVE2 vector extensions. Products are designed with two-socket systems in mind. The possibility of using air cooling and high energy efficiency are mentioned.

The release of the chips is scheduled for 2027. At that time, according to Fujitsu, these solutions will demonstrate two times superior performance per watt over competing server processors. The development of MONAKA is part of a project supervised by the Japan New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

As part of the partnership, Fujitsu and Supermicro will combine their technical capabilities and expertise to create servers optimized for various workloads. It is noted, in particular, that the Supermicro Building Block approach to platform design allows you to quickly create and certify a wide range of systems for AI, HPC and general purpose computing in cloud environments and at the edge. Customers will be able to select system components optimized for their workloads and applications. In addition, the companies will focus on environmentally friendly IT solutions in the field of rack-scale LSS.

The collaboration will also extend to Fsas Technologies, a subsidiary of Fujitsu. The company will deliver generative AI solutions globally on a platform that combines Supermicro GPU-accelerated servers and deployment services for data center operators and enterprises.
