By the beginning of October, the industry association SIA was able to summarize the activities of manufacturers of semiconductor products for August of this year, finding out that in monetary terms, supplies of such products increased by 20.6% over the year to $53.1 billion, and also by 3.5% sequentially. Revenue has been growing for five months in a row and set a new record for August.
Monthly revenue year-on-year, according to SIA representatives, grew by the highest percentage since April 2022, with the Americas driving the market, which increased revenue by 43.9% year-on-year. Consistent growth in revenue from the sale of semiconductor components was observed in all macro-regions simultaneously for the first time since October 2023.
If we look at the geography of supplies, both Americas increased in annual comparison by 43.9% to $16.56 billion, they also showed the largest sequential increase of 7.5%. China was in second place both in terms of revenue ($15.48 billion) and growth rate in annual comparison (19.2%), but sequentially, the revenue of semiconductor suppliers in China increased only by 1.7%. Sanctions from the United States and its allies could have had a negative impact. The Asia-Pacific region excluding Japan, as well as all countries outside the Americas, Europe and China, collectively showed revenue growth of 17.1% to $12.82 billion and brought the macro-region to third place after China.
While Japan increased revenue from sales of semiconductor products by 2% to $4 billion at the end of August, Europe showed a year-on-year decrease in revenue by 9% to $4.26 billion. However, sequentially, European revenue in the semiconductor segment still increased by 2.4 %, and in this the region was second only to America and Japan.
