The interface of Samsung smartphones will change dramatically with the release of One UI 7

The next major update to One UI 7, the interface for Samsung mobile devices, will be marked by radical changes in its appearance. This is reported by CNET with reference to a statement by Sally Hyesoon Jeong, executive vice president of Samsung Electronics and head of the framework research and development department.

The beta version of Samsung One UI 7 will be released this year, and the public version will debut next year along with the release of the company’s next flagship phone – probably the Galaxy S25. “We’re testing a completely new [user interface] design. One UI 7 will bring a fresh new look to the entire interface,” said Ms. Jeong. She did not talk about the update in detail and did not show what the new interface would look like. But she noted that the purpose of the innovation is to give the user the opportunity to better understand what he is doing and “minimize difficulties.” As part of the redesign, Samsung improved animation and developed a new system for blurring elements.

As another example, she cited the updated home screen grid in One UI 7. “It’s better organized and easier to use, providing a neat home screen no matter what Galaxy devices you’re using,” the executive said. The updated Samsung One UI 7 will comply with the latest trends: Apple iOS 18 introduced the ability to manually rearrange application icons on the home screen; Google has trained its Gemini artificial intelligence assistant to answer questions about what’s displayed on your phone screen.

One UI is Samsung’s redesign of Android. The company traditionally starts software updates with the latest generation devices, after which it is the turn of older products. Samsung smartphones make up about 20% of smartphones worldwide. In recent years, the Korean manufacturer has rolled out deeper changes to its Android gadgets: in particular, it has redesigned the camera, introduced support for access keys for passwordless authorization, and transferred the Galaxy AI suite of artificial intelligence functions to other devices.
