Developers from Larian Studios shared statistics on their social networks demonstrating the popularity of official modification support recently integrated into the fantasy role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3.
A patch with support for mods was released on PC on September 5th. In the first 48 hours, players installed more than 3 million modifications through the manager built into Baldur’s Gate 3, and by the release of the update on consoles on October 1, this figure exceeded 15 million.
As it became known, to date the number of mods installed in Baldur’s Gate 3 on PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X and S has reached 22 million. Of these, 1.7 million were accounted for by console players in the first 24 hours from the release of the patch.
Other achievements of mod lovers:
- In total, modders downloaded more than 2000 mods through the BG3 Toolkit;
- 768 mod authors have already mastered the BG3 Toolkit editor;
- More than 40% of the audience of active Baldur’s Gate 3 players uses mods.
«Mods have been available on consoles and Mac for less than a week, and you’re already breaking records! Thanks to the mod authors for bringing their creations to life with the BG3 Toolkit, and to all the players who are now causing havoc in Fairun,” the developers shared.
Baldur’s Gate 3 left early access on August 3, 2023 on PC (Steam, GOG), and subsequently reached Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X and S. Patches for the game will not end with the release of mod support: cross-play and cross-play are still expected in the project in the future photo mode
