Google’s Gemini Live voice assistant has become available for all Android smartphones, and for free

Starting October 1, Google made the Gemini Live voice assistant available for free on Android phones. The system helps in managing devices, navigates what is happening on the screen and generates texts in various applications.

Gemini Live is launched by long pressing the power button – instead of the traditional Google Assistant icon, an icon with a blue Gemini star has appeared. The intelligent assistant understands what is happening on the screen – for example, you can ask it a question about the video you are currently watching on YouTube. In any application, he can create an image or text. Previously, these functions were available only to users of the Gemini Advanced subscription – the first month is free, and each subsequent month you will have to pay $20. If you press and hold the power button, a pop-up window will appear with a service icon in the lower right corner; Next, you will need to study the one-page guide and select a male or female voice from one of the English dialects.

With the Gemini Live interface, you can communicate with AI naturally, without worrying about speech errors, stutters, or accents that might interfere with Google Assistant. When the application is running, the microphone is turned on by default; to turn it off, you will have to press the corresponding buttons in the interface. Conversation transcripts are stored in the Gemini Apps user log for 72 hours. For comparison, the previously presented Microsoft Copilot Vision function does not involve saving data either locally on the device or in the cloud – they are deleted immediately upon completion of work with the system, the developer assures.
