Intel’s new LGA 1851 platform and new Core Ultra 200 desktop processors will be introduced next week. As it became known earlier, Intel will announce new products on October 10. In addition to new chips, the first models of motherboards based on the latest flagship Intel Z890 chipset are expected to be announced on the same day. Asus will be one of the companies that will present their solutions. The VideoCardz portal shared images of new boards from this manufacturer.
Expect improved support for DDR5 RAM and the elimination of DDR4 support from the new Intel platform. The platform will also offer more PCIe 5.0 lanes. New motherboards for Arrow Lake-S will be equipped with more convenient mechanisms for installing and removing video cards and NVMe drives, will offer support for Wi-Fi 7 and be equipped with Thunderbolt 4 connectors.
The VideoCardz portal shared images of eight models of Asus motherboards based on the Intel Z890 chipset, designed for building powerful gaming systems.
The manufacturer will release new products as part of its signature series ROG Maximus, ROG Strix, TUF Gaming and Prime.
According to the source, the cost of the flagship model of the ROG Maximus Z890 Extreme board may be higher than that of the flagship Core Ultra 9 285K processor.
Unfortunately, the portal does not provide information about the characteristics of future boards.
From earlier leaks it is known that Intel Core Ultra 200 processors will offer up to 8 high-performance Lion Cove P-cores and up to 16 energy-efficient Skymont E-cores.
It is also expected that the new processors will remain compatible with older cooling systems. The dimensions of the chips will remain the same as in Raptor Lake, but the heat dissipation cover will change slightly for the new processors.
At the start of sales, which will take place on October 24, only Core Ultra 200 processor models with the “K” suffix are expected to be released, which indicates their unlocked multiplier and overclocking support.
The flagship model Core Ultra 9 285K is credited with 8 productive and 16 energy-efficient cores, a maximum frequency of 5.7 GHz, 36 MB of L3 cache and 40 MB of L2 cache.
