Seasonic has released Focus GX (2024) power supplies with much more free space

Seasonic introduced the fourth generation of its Focus GX power supplies. The updated series includes models with a power of 750, 850 and 1000 W, meeting the specifications of the ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 power standards. All new products have an 80 Plus Gold energy efficiency certificate and a fully modular cable design.

The updated Focus GX series of power supplies has a new printed circuit board layout and is equipped with more compact MOSFETs. However, the main feature of the new products is the new OptiSink cooling circuit that Seasonic has developed for its latest PSU models. According to the company, OptiSink “increases the internal space of the power supply by approximately 48%, improving air circulation” and allows heat to be transferred much faster from working components.

One of the main components of OptiSink is a special printed circuit board used to power and cool metal oxide semiconductor components. The new technology also involves mounting MOSFETs directly onto the copper surface of the PCB using soldering.

OptiSink is a significant departure from Seasonic’s older PSU design, which used screws and thermal pads to mount aluminum heatsinks on top of the MOSFETs without any additional circuit boards or copper.

The new power supply design allowed Seasonic to significantly reduce the installation area of many power supply components. For example, new power supplies use more compact heatsinks that take up only a small amount of space on the printed circuit board that they help cool. New radiators also allow heat to be dissipated in any direction. Additional cooling of the power supply components is provided by a 135 mm fan.

Seasonic Focus GX (2024) power supplies are the company’s first solutions to use the new OptiSink technology. In the future, the manufacturer will use it in all of its power supply model lines.

Focus GX (2024) power supplies come with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty. The new items will be available in black and white. The company priced the 750W power supply model at $129.99, the 850W model received a price tag of $149.99, and the 1000W version is priced at $189.99. In the white version, the manufacturer priced the new items $10 more expensive. The Focus GX (2024) series of power supplies will go on sale in October.
