China sets a record for artistic piloting of 10 thousand quadcopters from one laptop

Less than a month has passed since a new record for artistic swarming was set in China. The fact of simultaneous controlled lifting into the air of 10,197 drones was entered into the Guinness Book of Records. The second record was the creation of the largest image in the air by a swarm of drones. The demonstration took place on September 26 in Shenzhen and was dedicated to the celebration of the next anniversary of the Founding Day of the People’s Republic of China on October 1.

At the beginning of September 2024, a company from China flew 7,598 drones into the sky, which was an absolute record at that time. Prior to this, the record in this area lasted four years with the number of drones in the swarm being 3,191. Reaching early September lasted only three weeks and was defeated in defeat. As in all previous cases, a huge fleet of drones was controlled by just one laptop.

China is considered the birthplace of fireworks, which began to decorate festivals there 1,200 years ago. The organizers of the drone air light show take into account the established cultural traditions of the Celestial Empire, but transform them through the prism of computer technology. And it’s not just entertainment. Obviously, an army of thousands and tens of thousands of cheap copters with swarm control is a formidable force, which companies from China willingly demonstrate under the guise of “fireworks of the 21st century.”

Nevertheless, it is beautiful. The air show of 10,000 drones in the skies of Shenzhen lasted five days – one in each district of the metropolis. In the video above you can see a cut of footage of one of them.
