Europeans may be left without “Apple Intelligence” – Apple does not agree with EU rules on AI regulation

Apple may refuse to launch functions based on artificial intelligence Apple Intelligence in the European Union. The region’s Artificial Intelligence Law, a set of rules to regulate the industry, has been pledged to compliance by a number of major companies, including OpenAI, Microsoft and Google. However, the iPhone manufacturer is in no hurry to do the same.

Apple said it is “working” with EU regulators to provide users in the region with access to Apple Intelligence features. However, at this stage there are no signs that the company has managed to move in this direction.

It is curious that the new rules for regulating the AI segment were agreed upon with 115 companies. Many of them are among the largest artificial intelligence players in the global market. Adobe, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, Samsung and Snap, among others, agreed to comply with the current legislation.

«The EU’s initiative to introduce controls on artificial intelligence got off to a rocky start on Wednesday as tech giants Meta✴ and Apple refused to comply. All companies and industries will be required to comply with the rules set out in the Pact as part of the EU’s Artificial Intelligence Law. , which will be gradually implemented in the coming years. The goal of the voluntary pact is to force companies to begin complying with the rules of the Artificial Intelligence Act as early as possible,” writes Politico, citing its own sources.

Apple and Meta✴ are hardly friendly companies when it comes to many other issues. However, in terms of the lack of optimism about AI regulation in the EU, they seem to have taken the same position.
