The mandatory linking of a PSN account has become one of the main complaints from fans about the PC version of the Scandinavian action game God of War Ragnarok. An enterprising modder came to the rescue of the players, but the happiness did not last long.
Let us remind you that shortly after the release of God of War Ragnarok on PC, enthusiast iArtorias released the NoPSSDK mod on Nexus Mods and GitHub, which removed the PlayStation overlay from the game and the need for authorization through a PSN account.
The modification was popular – iArtorias was asked in the comments to release a similar solution for other Sony games on PC – and was featured in specialized media, but disappeared a few days after publication.
First of all, users suspected the Nexus Mods administration of what happened, but the official microblog of the site assured that NoPSSDK was deleted by iArtorias himself for one reason or another.
In a conversation with Nexus Mods, the modder admitted that he was afraid of the attention that NoPSSDK attracted, and removed the mod to avoid possible claims from Sony in the future.
«Although the project didn’t change any element of Sony’s products, it’s better to be safe than sorry. It’s unfortunate that this happened, but I can’t put myself at risk because of this [gray area],” explained iArtorias.
God of War Ragnarok was released on PC (Steam, EGS) a week ago, on September 19, and due to the requirement to link a PSN account, it is not available in more than 170 countries where it is officially impossible to create a PlayStation account.
