Meta✴ has announced that it is testing a new feature on Facebook✴ and Instagram✴ that will add AI-generated images to users’ feeds. According to the statement, AI content tagged “Imagined for You” will be created based on the user’s interests or current trends, including images of the user himself.
In the generated scenes, you can imagine yourself as a video game character or, for example, an astronaut exploring space. To create them, the system will use user photos. Meta✴ spokeswoman Amanda Felix explained that the platform will generate images with the user’s face only if he connects to the Imagine yourself function and accepts the appropriate conditions. In the future, such photos can be shared or selfies can be generated in real time.
Mark Zuckerberg, in an interview with The Verge, said that adding AI images to feeds is the next “logical step” for Facebook✴ and Instagram✴, when in addition to user-generated content, AI-generated content will appear. It is explained that, if desired, users will be able to prohibit the display of AI images in their feed, and the ability to share them will remain optional. The same applies to pictures with the user’s face – they will be available to everyone only if the person himself gives permission.
Meta✴ emphasizes that this feature is currently in testing, so it is unclear how widely or quickly it will be rolled out.
